The difficulty in matching the academic content and outcomes of units (courses) between sending and host universities is a serious barrier to the integration of study abroad in the curriculum. The OUTWARD ® database has been developed to address this issue for students planning to come to The University of Western Australia (UWA) by providing comprehensive information on the academic content and outcomes of our units.
OUTWARD database contains information on all units offered at UWA. For the present, most of the UWA unit information is brief since it is drawn from the University Handbooks (formerly known as the Faculty Handbooks). We are in the process of adding more units that have the full description format. OUTWARD gives you access to this information in a searchable database.
OUTWARD includes a record of the history of all units taken at UWA by study abroad students. OUTWARD gives you access to this information in a searchable database.
When browsing through the list of units available at UWA, there is the option of dropping units into a 'cart' for latter review. The contents of the cart can be saved in a database for later retrieval and the details of the unit selection can also be emailed to any nominated email address.
After units have been selected and available in the cart, students can apply online for admission to the Student Exchange and Study Abroad Programme at UWA.
